Surabaya yaya (Day 3)

Our day three started at 2 in the morning. We didn't take any shower, straight to pack a few stuff and in the jeep. There's already a lot of jeeps parking at the side of the road waiting for their passengers. The journey from our homestay to the Seruni viewing point took about 30 minutes. There's also people riding horses or donkeys to the viewing point.

We needed to hike up the hill for better view. There's series of staircases which took about 15-20 minutes. Highly recommend to bring torchlight here because the place is dark. You will reach the Seruni viewpoint once you see an arch and big shelter. There's also people selling hot instant noodles and hot drinks.

The sunrise at that time was around 6.00am. If the weather is good you will witness the orange coloured Bromo from there, but at that time the weather is a but cloudy and just a little bit orange. A lot of photographers were there with us waiting for the right moment but most of them were disappointed with the outcome. Took a lot of pictures there. A lot of people camwhoring non-stop. By 7.00am we descend down, met our jeep and off to Mount Bromo.

Our entrance was already have been paid earlier. We reached at the destination one hour later, because of bad traffic. At Bromo there is some market, toilets, temples and you can ride a horse to the mountain. But to hike up the volcano, there is a staircase. What I've done was using stairs to hike up the volcano, then descended by running down the hill. It was fun!

The driver gave us two hours to go around Bromo, and it was enough. By the time we went into the jeep it started to raining. Then we moved to Teletubbies hill, where it actually at that time not like in Teletubbies. Then onto whispering sand (Pasir Berbisik), again disappointed that can't hear the sand 'whispering'. But these two have great view to calm your mind. Just be there, concentrate and look at the view. Breathtaking.

By 11.00am we're backing at the homestay. We immediately took our hot shower and started to pack. In the afternoon the rain was pouring down. Our timing was right. We left the place at 12.30pm. Our next stop was three hour journey to the nearest city, Probolinggo.

As soon as we arrived Probolinggo, we searched for available hotel. The hotel was Ratna Hotel. Per person about Rp125.000 with breakfast at the door. The place is a bit dirty with the facilities was a bit let down.. For just one night we have to bare with it.

We went out to look for food. We wanted to try nasi padang, indonesian cuisine where they prepare a plate of rice and a lot of dishes ranging from fish to chicken. Total spent for 7 people was Rp230.000, a bit expensive. To compare what I've eaten in KL, Malaysia the price is around the same but the quality was not as the same in KL. A bit disappointment there. Maybe there is better restaurant nearby but we didn't know where.

Basically after that we went to the hotel and rest. Then we went out again to see some football at local warung but then it was reallyyyyy full, end up hangout at the KFC. Then we went back to hotel and Zzzzzzzzzzz...

To be continued...
